HOUSE 016 reworks a compact London dwelling through section, light, and carefully held thresholds. Set within the constrained fabric of a mews condition, the project treats the house as a sequence of layered interior volumes rather than a conventional stack of rooms. Living spaces, bedrooms, terraces, and light wells are arranged to draw daylight deep into the plan while preserving the privacy and enclosure characteristic of the typology.

The architecture is restrained and materially quiet. Pale walls, timber surfaces, soft plaster, and precise metal details create a calm interior atmosphere, while cut-outs, voids, and roof openings establish moments of vertical connection. The house is shaped around small but significant spatial events: a stair passing through the center of the plan, a framed view to a terrace, a narrow shaft of light falling across a wall, a room opening unexpectedly to sky.

Rather than expanding outward, the project finds generosity within compression. Its character comes from the measured handling of proportion, storage, daylight, and threshold — turning the limitations of the mews site into a compact, atmospheric house organized around privacy, light, and quiet domestic ritual.
